What is a “Bonnet Bus”?
Manufactured in 1967, this classic bus was once actively used as a regular route bus. From the late 1950s through the 1970s, bonnet buses of this type were the standard, with Nohi Bus operating a large fleet of them. Back then, a line of these buses departing from Takayama Station bound for Mt. Norikura during the summer climbing season was a beloved summer tradition in the area. In the spring of 2026, after overcoming years of aging, this historic bus completed a long-awaited full restoration so it can keep running for years to come! It has been reborn while retaining all of its nostalgic, vintage charm. To celebrate this renewal, we are holding special autumn bus tours around Hida Takayama.
