Shirakawago is the village with beautiful scenery that is reminiscent of olden times. The village contains 114 thatched roofed gassho style houses and was designated as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site in 1995, as the houses are still used in real life. They are called gassho style houses because the steep triangular roof, unique to the heavy snowfall area, resembles "gassho" (hands meeting in prayer). Throughout the year the highly picturesque landscape, as the representative tourist spot of Japan, attracts many tourists from Japan and abroad.

Kamikochi is located on the upland area at the altitude of 1,500 m surrounded by the Northern Alps mountains and is one of the best mountain resorts in Japan. Rail Mountain Bike is the unique attraction born in Hida city by locals. You can ride a mountain bike on the rail of former railway.Mechanism is very simple. 2 mountain bikes are fixed to the guide roller with a metal frame that was originally produced in local. Rear wheel tire is faced on surfice of the rail directly so that you can go forward safety and smoothy by pedaling a mountain bike.Because you ride bicycle on the train rails you can feel the vibration and sound of the seam of the rail. Mt. Norikuradake is located at the southern edge of the Northern Alps (Hida Mountains). It is called "Norikura" (a riding saddle) because when seen from Hida Takayama City, it looks like a saddle on a horse.By shuttle bus from Hirayu Hot Spring/Honoki Daira to Tatamidaira, the top of Mt. Norikuradake, via Norikura Skyline with the beautiful landscape, and it is only operated during limited periods.Tatamidaira is the last stop, and at an altitude of 2,702 m which the "highest altitude bus stop in Japan." This is an attractive tourist spot where you can enjoy hiking around the flower garden with blooming alpine plants or climbing a 3,000-m mountain casually.

Shinhotaka Ropeway is the most popular sightseeing spot in the Okuhida area and it is located at the last stop of the Nohi Bus Shinhotaka Line. By taking 2 ropeways you can view the beautiful Northern Alps such as Mt. Nishihotakadake, Mt. Yarigatake and Mt. Kasagadake in a 360-degree panoramic view from the observation deck on the mountaintop at an altitude of 2,156 m. The second ropeway is Japan's only double decker gondola, and you can see the magnificent ountains from inside.At Nabedaira Kogen, you can fully enjoy nature. This is a theme park of bears, with more than 100 bears that have been bred, such as Asiatic black bears or brown bears collected from all over the world. There is a vending machine of bear food in the park and you can enjoy feeding the bears. Their way to ask for food is quite unique, and they can catch the food if you throw it. In October of every year, you can have a commemorative picture of yourself holding a baby bear in your arms.

Hirayu Grand Waterfall is one of Hida's three major waterfalls in drop length and selected as one of "Japan's Top 100 Waterfalls." Its abundant water and roaring sound are magnificent; the surrounding area is shrouded by negative ions and mist. The rock surface covered by babbling clear water and the moss heals tourists' hearts.The "Frozen Hirayu Grand Waterfall Festival" is held in February every year and the frozen waterfall is lit up beautifully. Enjoy the freezing cold of Okuhida and the scenery made by Mother Nature that is only available in winter.

Hida Great Limestone Cave is located at the highest place in Japan (at the altitude of 900 m as a tourism limestone cave) and one of the country's best tourism limestone caves with a length reaching about 800 m. The average temperature through the year inside the cave is about 12°C, which is warm in winter and it can be a nice resort in summer. You must see creation of Mother Nature that took about 250 million years to make.Also, this was selected as the "Lover's Sanctuary" on March 1, 2017. Why don't you get a "Love Lock" (1,080 yen) and pray.
