Depart Takayama Nohi Bus terminal (Platform 2, bound for Kamioka)
Sakurano Park is located right in front of the bus stop.
One of the Eight Scenic Views of Hida, Sakurano Park’s cherry blossoms are said to have originated from seedlings transplanted from Mount Yoshino in the late Nanboku-cho period. Approximately 300 trees, including Somei Yoshino and Edo-Higan cherry trees, bloom vividly along the 600-meter stretch of the park and the Miyagawa River.
The grounds of Saikoji Temple feature a magnificent old weeping cherry tree (Shidarezakura). It blends beautifully with the temple’s bell tower and main gate, creating a traditional Japanese scene. The cherry trees are illuminated during the blooming season.
The cherry tree reflected in the water-filled rice paddy creates a magical scene. While beautiful during the day, it is especially recommended to visit at night when it is illuminated.
Illumination Period: During cherry blossom season, 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
