Depart Takayama Nohi Bus terminal (Platform 1, bound for Gero)
Get off at the Hida Ichinomiya Bus Stop.
After getting off, we’ll head to the “Garyu cherry blossom”!
The tree is named “Garyu-zakura” (臥龍桜), meaning “reclining dragon cherry tree,” because its branches resemble a reclining dragon.
This giant Edo-Higan cherry tree is over 1100 years old, has a branch spread of 30 meters, and a height of 20 meters.
It is designated as a National Natural Monument.
Dedicated to Minashi-no-Kami (御年大神), also known as Mitoshio-no-Okami, along with fourteen other deities, Hida Minashi Shrine has long been a spiritual center for the people of Hida as the Ichinomiya (chief shrine) of Hida Province. It is bustling with visitors during the Hida Ikibina Festival, the annual festival, and the New Year’s holidays. It is also a popular “power spot.”
No reservation is required. Please feel free to join at your leisure.
